Cheltenham Amateur Radio Association

This month’s meeting will take place on Thursday 18th September at 7.30 for 8pm at the Cheltenham Town Football Club, Whaddon Road, G:52 5NA.

Michael G3PCL will give a PowerPoint presentation discussing end fed dipoles.  It describes both conventional centre fed and end fed types.  Diagrams are included to indicate how they both function.

The presentation includes the design of an UNUN for an end fed dipole.

The latest version of EZNEC computer modelling is used to show the predicted performance for both types of antenna.

Finally, using computer modelling how a very long end fed dipole has been used for receiving weak DX signals.

Visitors and prospective members will be welcomed, as always.

Peter M7HGC will be telling us about his early experiences as a radio amateur and member of CARA.

John G8CQX will explain why HF conditions have been so poor recently even though the solar flux levels have been high.

The third speaker is a mystery!

This is your opportunity to snap up a few, or perhaps many, bargains to enhance your radio station and also to enhance your enjoyment of amateur radio. 

So come ready with plenty of cash and be prepared to engage in some gentle haggling with fellow club members.

 Or you may prefer to bring along stuff surplus to your needs – but only amateur radio or related items please.  Find space on a table, set out your stall and start to sell.  Sellers must, please, take away items they’ve not sold.
